{"id":7890,"date":"2020-10-25T01:43:45","date_gmt":"2020-10-25T01:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=7890"},"modified":"2020-10-26T02:14:02","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T02:14:02","slug":"vagina-kika-dorsey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=7890","title":{"rendered":"VAGINA  &#8211; Kika Dorsey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You should never ever use the word vagina in a poem.<br \/>Better to write about the great wall of China<br \/>or Nina from Carolina.<br \/>Better to describe the diner<br \/>in the desert of Nevada<br \/>with its blue walls and soggy pancakes,<br \/>where your lover confessed that he carried a gun<br \/>and then ate your cantaloupe.<br \/>Better to write about the juicy papaya<br \/>you ate in Mexico because it\u2019s good<br \/>for the gut, and also, instead of your vagina<br \/>you could write about marijuana,<br \/>which makes the papaya taste better.<br \/>You could write about a messiah<br \/>whom you don\u2019t believe in<br \/>but he sounds better than the hell you live.<br \/>You could write about Godiva<br \/>but then they\u2019ll think of you naked<br \/>and it will imply your vagina<br \/>and she was probably a bit of a pariah<br \/>and you really just want to fit in.<br \/>You do like horses, though.<br \/>You believe it\u2019s finer<br \/>to write music in the minor<br \/>key and even Messiahs<br \/>are nailed to crosses.<br \/>Your vagina is split in two<br \/>like North and South Carolina<br \/>and you\u2019re always traveling south in your body,<br \/>so some people call you a slut<br \/>but you strut with your beautiful vagina<br \/>and when you sleep, you\u2019re as naked<br \/>as a cracked chestnut, roasted soft meat<br \/>in the middle like the babies<br \/>who spilled out of you.<br \/><br \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-7944\" src=\"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/nn-headshot-kika-dorsey-web-1-300x255-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Kika Dorsey is a poet and fiction writer in Boulder, Colorado, and lives with her two children, husband, and pets.
