{"id":5559,"date":"2019-01-13T21:08:03","date_gmt":"2019-01-13T21:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=5559"},"modified":"2019-01-27T21:10:28","modified_gmt":"2019-01-27T21:10:28","slug":"lingering-winter-lorraine-amanda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=5559","title":{"rendered":"Lingering Winter &#8211; Lorraine Amanda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Naked bushes still shiver like kids<br \/>\non a beach, teeth chattering, fingers turning blue.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nWinter has overstayed her welcome, again,<br \/>\nthe guest who won\u2019t leave after the nightcap.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nAnxious to launch those famous showers,<br \/>\nApril throats an annoyed \u201ca-hem\u201d to the cold.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nA full moon quilts the reservoir in silver as<br \/>\nvestiges of snow on the roof tick their way to the dirt.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nOne sunrise, I spy from the window still fuzzy with frost,<br \/>\ngreen specks, determined, pushing through softening earth.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lorraine Amada is a writer and poet who teaches English as a Second Language (ESL). A New York native, Lorraine currently lives in the Bay Area. Recently two of her poems, &#8220;Suburban Snowstorm&#8221; and &#8220;Praise the Rain&#8221; were published in Pilcrow and Dagger magazine.
