Where do they go<br \/>\nif not my belly?<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\noh sweet moon,<br \/>\nsplit me so that I may remember<br \/>\nthere is nothing left but to repent.<br \/>\nIt will be a sacrifice befitting a sky<br \/>\nand I&#8217;ll only kiss the sweetest parts,<br \/>\nlap up its rivers and leave the husk<br \/>\nscentless and primed for martyrdom.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nWithout such a weight, I&#8217;ll sing or<br \/>\nsway slowly to mistakes as if not my own<br \/>\nbreathing only to utter a name,<br \/>\nmy feet leaving the portrait of an<br \/>\nill-remembered [ ]<br \/>\nin the mud. It&#8217;s raining again.<br \/>\nThe earth is forgetting as<br \/>\nthe clouds have ordained it.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nI still hunger for the songs<br \/>\nthat I&#8217;ve lost but only with<br \/>\nthe bodies I&#8217;ve given up,<br \/>\nthe lies I&#8217;ve told.<br \/>\nWill these things stay with me<br \/>\nor have they grown to be shedded<br \/>\nwormskin, surely unappreciative<br \/>\nwith cravings apart from my own?<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nPlease chew the tough parts of me. I can\u2019t quite<br \/>\nbreak bone. My jaw tires before you. My voice is<br \/>\nunheard and familiar to all but myself. I&#8217;m often imagined<br \/>\nas begging on such nights. A prayer in the dark\u2014<br \/>\nCleave me into something musical. I&#8217;ve been told<br \/>\nthe end is nearer each bleeding; all great things<br \/>\nhave known teeth.
