Oppong-Yeboa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>tired now, of the passage of nightmares<br \/>\nand the weight each breach bears upon my chest<br \/>\neach morning, a new emptiness strains its voice<br \/>\nto plead the worth of its blood, to the earth<br \/>\nthe only mouth that will receive it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 310px;\">the way a small things yearns<br \/>\nto worm into a crook of flesh<br \/>\nand sprout a ladder<br \/>\nout from the darkness it knows<br \/>\ninto its own true leaves<\/p>\n<p>made, to sprout over<br \/>\nthe firmament of me<br \/>\nand now, this is how it has come<br \/>\nto roost in the skin<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 310px;\">the way a fever seers the flesh<br \/>\na splendid tone of red<br \/>\nbeneath the taut<br \/>\ntarp of a black sky.<\/p>\n<p>this green, curbed into an arm<br \/>\nthrown over the frame of a stain<br \/>\nglass window, lending itself<br \/>\nto the upward current of air,<br \/>\nand the swaying of<br \/>\nmy own true leaves<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 310px;\">and now, this is how it has come<br \/>\nto roost in the fire,<br \/>\nin the heat of it, through its signs:<br \/>\nthe fresh hot blood pulls forth<br \/>\na robe undone. to<br \/>\nsee it, the flame. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/nn-emmanual-oppong-yeboah-headhshot-authors-photo-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"nn, emmanual oppong-yeboah, headhshot, authors photo\" width=\"175\" height=\"175\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4375\" \/>Emmanuel Oppong-Yeboah is a Ghanaian American poet living out the diaspora in Boston (Massachusetts).
