{"id":14254,"date":"2026-02-08T23:19:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T23:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=14254"},"modified":"2026-02-18T19:13:34","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T19:13:34","slug":"poetry-in-catchment-michele-worthington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=14254","title":{"rendered":"POETRY IN CATCHMENT &#8211; Michele Worthington"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A word calls my name<br \/>\nothers answer in rhyme from the canopy<br \/>\nwhere greenery is fluent and lemurs<br \/>\nwith cursive tails leap<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nzigzagging in chatter<br \/>\nacross shadowed valleys<br \/>\nof linguistic tributaries<br \/>\nfrom this babble<br \/>\nvowels fall and almost drown<br \/>\nmouth deep<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nI backtrack the primates<br \/>\nupstream follow<br \/>\nthe verses they left<br \/>\nin whorls in the water<br \/>\ncreated out of<br \/>\nheld breath<br \/>\nand wooden paddles<br \/>\nwith temporary fingers<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nI scoop one up<br \/>\nit keeps its bowl form<br \/>\nand whirling movement<br \/>\nin my cupped hands<br \/>\na blur of turning water<br \/>\nslowing,<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nletters precipitate<br \/>\nwith sediment from a dreamt<br \/>\nexistence<br \/>\nperipheral<br \/>\nto this vessel<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">8<\/span><br \/>\nMichele Worthington lives in Tucson, AZ where the Sonoran Desert, urban sprawl and our unacknowledged apocalypse inspires her writing.
