{"id":13337,"date":"2023-07-08T16:39:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-08T16:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=13337"},"modified":"2024-01-09T23:17:21","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T23:17:21","slug":"a-poem-for-those-days-when-you-think-it-better-if-you-were-anything-else-but-human-by-luis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/?p=13337","title":{"rendered":"A Poem for Those Days When You Think It Better if You Were Anything Else But Human by  &#8211; Luis Pabon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On our worse days&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We think being human is trash<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But sometimes the grass wants to be flesh<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is not greener on the other side of the fence<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the heavens want a human experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unhappy with being simple spirits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the constellations aren\u2019t happy with its planets<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And yet the earth still spins on its tiny axis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And we find gratitude for the little things<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like kindness and its sister forgiveness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing that even when such siblings fight,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tomorrow we will be alright<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And not compare our size &amp; our sides &amp; our strides<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With any other form of life<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because we are all just doing our best<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying to keep alive<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Living moment to moment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One breath at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-13572\" src=\"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/nn-Luis-Pabon-jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/nn-Luis-Pabon-jpg.jpg 569w, https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/nn-Luis-Pabon-jpg-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/narrativenortheast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/nn-Luis-Pabon-jpg-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 211px) 100vw, 211px\" \/>Luis Pabon is a poet\/social worker born and raised in Bronx, NY. Luis has self-published 7 full collections of poetry most recently <em>Earth\u2019s Bad Mouth<\/em>\u00a0(Kindle Direct Publishing, 2021). He has secured Honorable Mention for the 2021 Stephen A. DiBiase Poetry Prize and his work has been published in\u00a0<em>Up the River Journal<\/em>\u00a0as well as\u00a0<em>Pine Hills Review<\/em>.
